Legislative Committee
The San Mateo County School Boards Association (SMCSBA) Board of Directors established the Legislative Committee to serve as a representative body in our outreach efforts with local legislators. The Legislative Committee’s mission is to mobilize our association membership in a timely fashion and strengthen our voice locally and at the state level. This committee will work to represent the association in an efficient way that holds our legislators accountable for education policy affecting students in San Mateo County and throughout the state.
Our legislative priorities will be to
- increase base funding
- change language the language around education funding
- address the teacher shortage
- create a safeguard from the onslaught of charter schools
The Legislative Committee will consult with the SMCSBA board and membership before taking an official position on any piece of education policy on behalf of the association.
